Unkei (Tokyo National Museum)

This year, a special exhibition of two Buddhist representatives representing the Kamakura period called Unkei & Kaikei were held.

Following Kaikei exhibition at the Nara National Museum in spring, Unkei exhibition was held at Tokyo National Museum in autumn.

As most of the work being transmitted to today's bell tokens gathered, many people were visiting.

It is named Unkei exhibition, but works by his father, Koukei, the sons of Unike, are also on display, and the name of the birthplace of the birthplace of the birthplace well represents the content of the exhibition.

6 buddha masters by Koukei, as its name suggests, is the statue of the six senior high priests, but each one's expression is quite rich, and it is awesome Buddha statue that is not as bad as the work of Unike.

And it can also be said that this exhibition is the main feature of the exhibition, the statutes of Shitennnou at Kofukuji, which is the hand of Unkei, and the unknown / heralding figure.

In the large venue, these six figures were lined up like big trees, and it was just overwhelmed by the atmosphere of the forest of Unkei.

One of the sons of Uniqing, the dragon daemon standing statue by Kouben is a small demon carrying a lantern on his head, looking at the balance with a unique look on the eyes.

It was a smart, but wonderful sculpture work that softens the atmosphere of the venue full of tensions between Koukei and Unkei, feels like an atmosphere of the era of the time.
